Creating an Eco Friendly Wedding

When the time comes to plan your wedding, obviously you want the best and chances are you have a very specific look you want to achieve.  If you are conscientious of the environment and commonly make choices to live an eco friendly lifestyle, there is no reason you cannot carry your support of a healthy planet over to your wedding.  In fact, with so many options today, you could create a wedding to surpass your expectations.

The following are some great recommendations on eco friendly choices you can make for your upcoming wedding.  Everything you choose will be gorgeous to the point that unless you told your guests, they would never know they were enjoying an environmentally friendly wedding.

  • Wedding Invitations – For starters, consider purchasing eco friendly invitations, which would be made from a natural and renewable material such as bamboo, cotton, or hemp, or perhaps made from recycled materials, but make sure the material was not bleached.  In addition, you could have the invitations printed with soy-based ink.

  • Wedding Gown – Even your wedding gown could be eco friendly.  Today, beautiful designs are being made from cotton, bamboo, hemp, and organic silk.  Organic wedding gowns are actually very easy to find at local bridal shops or through top designers.

  • Wedding Reception Menu – You might consider working with a caterer that specializes in creating menus items from all natural and/or organically grown foods.  That way, everyone at the wedding reception would enjoy a delicious and healthy meal, one that consists of fresh ingredients grown without the use of hazardous chemicals.

  • Dinnerware – Even the plates, plates, napkins, and heavy-duty plastic eating utensils could be made from recycled materials.

  • Reception Decorations – For your eco friendly wedding reception, create gorgeous centerpieces using soy-based candles made without dye or fragrance.  You could then enhance the look of each table with fresh flowers instead of silk and make sure they are placed in organic foam since traditional floral foam contains formaldehyde and phenol, both poisons.

  • Wedding Cake – You will find a large number of bakers and pastry chefs that now make organic wedding cakes.  These eco friendly cakes look no different than a standard cake and in fact, because the ingredients are fresh and natural, organic cakes are usually moister and more flavorful.

  • Honeymoon – To complete the most important day of your life, you should conduct research on line for an eco friendly resort or hotel.  Again, with so many people now wanting to get involved with the green movement, huge changes are occurring.  Therefore, consider a couple destinations and then begin your search for a place to stay that supports a healthy environment.
