Top 6 Reasons to Live Eco Friendly 

As more people start making changes to an eco friendly lifestyle, it peaks the interest of other people to know more.  We wanted to provide the top six reasons that living eco friendly is beneficial to humans, animals, vegetation, water, air, and the environmental as a whole.  In the past decade, numerous “green movements” have been developed to educate the public and as a result, demand for natural products and processes have skyrocketed. 

If you remember back in school, we all learned the word “biodegradable”.  While this term has been around for a long time, it has only been in the past several years that people have actually started paying attention to its meaning.  With pollution on the rise, concerns over the depleting ozone layer, disasters such as oil spills devastating our waters, and more, the public is realizing that something has to be done.  The best option is to purchase eco friendly products to help sustain life. 

1. Landfills – Sadly, landfills throughout North America and Europe are overflowing.  Trash being dumped into landfills is not biodegradable, which means it will not break down over time once again becoming a part of the environment.  In addition, many things being tossed into landfills are hazardous.  For instance, cell phones, Styrofoam, car batteries, and others types of trash contain dangerous chemicals that end up in our soil, air, and water resources. 

2. Many eco friendly products contain a large percentage of raw materials.  Because of this, beautiful forests are not being destroyed.  Instead, waste or recycled materials are used. 

3. Typically, eco friendly products are more cost efficient and in many cases, they are actually made to last longer than traditional products.  Keep in mind that while sustainable products are always the better choice, depending on the materials used, some products can be expensive.  For instance, if teak wood is grown in a special environment without chemicals, the cost would be significantly higher but considering you get a gorgeous product that will last to the next generation while supporting a healthy planet makes the price a small sacrifice. 

4. Products that are truly eco friendly would be made with organic or natural materials or ingredients but they would also be made using processes that promote a healthy environment.  In this case, a product might be made in a plant that uses special emissions control to cut down on air pollution or machinery that operates on hydropower (water). 

5. Another great benefit of buying eco friendly products is that you have the opportunity to enjoy materials that you might otherwise never use.  Lawn furniture is made from a safe type of plastic.  This furniture has a unique appearance and it is extremely strong.  Then, there is bamboo flooring, a gorgeous alternative that uses a type of grass (bamboo) that regenerates in five to seven years instead of cutting trees that could take 20 or 30 years to be replanted and grown to maturity. 

6. Finally, eco friendly products are safer.  Today, infant, children, and adult clothing is made from bamboo, hemp, and other natural substances, dog food is made with organic ingredients, and even household cleaners are made to cut grease without the use of harmful chemicals.
